Youth Leading Change
WHERE YOUNG CHANGEMAKERS TRANSFORM COMPASSION INTO ACTION
Kids Waunacure Cancer
— Our Mission
Kids WaunaCure Cancer (KWCC) unites young changemakers to transform compassion into action through creative fundraising, community education, and advocacy in the fight against childhood cancer. Together, they create a courageous, kind-hearted, and hopeful community working towards a world without childhood cancer.
— Our Story
KWCC is a youth-led initiative of Ada’s Spark, founded in 2024 by Ada’s big brother, Oliver. Oliver played a significant role in Ada’s treatment as both her bone marrow donor and a donor of Natural Killer (NK) cells for a clinical trial. Both donations were physically demanding. For the bone marrow procedure, Oliver underwent general anesthesia, experienced lingering pain, and spent a night in the hospital. For the NK cell donation, he endured six hours connected to an apheresis machine, with each arm attached to the device. Despite these challenges, Oliver was ecstatic about the opportunity to help his sister and never once complained. His courage and love never wavered and continue to inspire us every day.
Oliver is deeply committed to preserving Ada’s legacy and supporting Ada’s Spark. He came up with the idea for KWCC, a space where where kids can channel their compassion into action. They raised over $600 in its first year through creative driveway sales, including a memorable “lemonAda” stand.
